Processing aid
Clarification is one of the stages in beer production, and requires the use of processing aids to help precipitate the particles responsible for turbidity to the bottom of the vat. Irsh Moss is a red algae containing carrageenans, which help to clarify the beer by naturally precipitating protein-tannin complexes to the bottom of the vat.
