Description
Spirulina platensis, commonly known as spirulina, is a spiral-shaped cyanobacteria of about 0.3 mm. Spirulina is grown in tanks exposed to sunlight. The spirulina is then harvested, concentrated and dried in powder form.

Composition
Spirulina is particularly consumed for its high protein content, which can represent up to 60% of its dry matter. It is also very rich in pigments such as phycocyanin, and contains a large number of minerals.
