Esculoside

Esculoside is obtained from the dark horse chesnut branches (Aesculus hippocastanum L.). It is commonly used as a way to treat red skin blotches and has antioxidant properties that may participate in its anti-inflammatory activities. Esculoside is therefore an active ingredient reducing skin irritation and skin rashes.

Palmaria palmata

Palmaria palmata also named dulse is part of the red algae family. Dulse contains around 30% of polysaccharides, including carrageenans (typical red algae family’s fibers). Polysaccharides are commonly used in cosmetic products and the most widely known is the hyaluronic acid. Their specificities are to retain water in skin tissues and to fill up wrinkles and fine lines as a collagen substitute. Polysaccharides are well-known for stimulating skin hydration, and they also have a good tensing effect. Dulse also contains beta carotene molecules which are well-known for their anti-oxidant properties. Beta carotene molecules hinder the formation of free radicals which are responsible for the cell aging process. Palmaria palmata is therefore a global antiaging active ingredient to be included in skin care products.
